My story

My name is Susan Jane Mikolajewski. I am fortunate enough to live right on the edge of Jumbles Country Park in the Bradshaw Valley, around four miles north of Bolton town centre, and within close proximity of Wayoh and Entwistle reservoirs. I live with my husband Zbigniew and our two grown up children.

Through university and beyond I have always loved being an organiser! From undergraduate and the local Law Society Annual Dinners and Summer Ball, I’ve always been up for the challenge of creating something memorable and with imagination and flair.

After 34 years as a qualified Solicitor, I gave up my practising Certificate following Covid. My whole working life has allowed me to meet some fantastic people and, as I approached the end of my legal career, I thought about other options available to me, which would still allow me the opportunity to write and deliver but in a more enjoyable way.

My sister was due to get married shortly after and had decided upon a ceremony at home. A short legal formality at the local Register Office was followed the very next day by a much more personal ceremony for family colleagues and friends. It was simply stunning and all created by the bride just as she had dreamed, and the event was made so much more special by the unique nature of the ceremony written especially for the happy couple and the role of the Celebrant. It was at that point that the penny dropped, and I thought “I can do that”!

However once I started to do my research I quickly realised that the role of Celebrant is not just confined to weddings. A Celebrant can add so much more to all manner of celebrations-naming ceremonies, celebrations of life, vow renewals, divorce healing, birthday milestones, and house warmings. The qualities of a Celebrant can also be adapted into many types of corporate events-retirement, long service awards or just to say “thanks”.

The story of your engagement, the day you found out that you were pregnant, your wedding day-all of these memories can be built into woven into a totally bespoke ceremony. Its your journey…your memories…..your story and full of love.

As a certified celebrant with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants I’m full of energy and new ideas to make your ceremony special, but with an eye to the traditional if required. Above all I want your day to be fun and memorable!

Vow Renewals

Many couples married for 10, 25, 30, even 50 years or more may wish to renew their love for one another in an intimate setting with friends and family. I can help to source those fabulous memories and put them into a into a beautiful ceremony to share with your nearest and dearest.

I will help you remember and recreate that special day all over again.

Baby Naming

A naming ceremony is a cause for celebration. It gives parents the opportunity to gather with family and friends to welcome a new addition into the family. As an alternative to a religious christening I can spend time getting to know you all, so that I can conduct a ceremony which is truly personal and meaningful to you.

We can discuss promises, readings, poems, rituals and music that you may like. Think about a sand ceremony, candle lighting, tree-planting or even hand or foot-printing.

Celebration of Life
/Living Funeral

Saying goodbye is always difficult but it is also a time to remember and celebrate the happy memories.

When a loved one dies then their life, however long or short that was, should be remembered with a service that is fitting to the individual and reflects their true personality.

Or perhaps you want the opportunity to express your feelings, share memories, and say goodbye before your passing. Living funerals can be a way to celebrate your life, offer support for a difficult time ahead, and provide closure for both you and your loved ones.

It will be my privilege to work with you and to say goodbye…perhaps with a little humour… but always with warmth respect and most of all love.
